Ann Dillard

Ann Dillard is a globally-renowned US based Amazon bestselling-author, motivational speaker, and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, who does a lot more than offer therapy in her accomplished life. Born in Jamaica, West Indies, Ann migrated to the United States at the young age of 13. This transition was very challenging for her as she felt like she had lost her culture, family, traditions, and a sense of belonging.

Due to the challenges that she faced growing up, Ann decided wanted serve young girls. Her desire to help mothers and daughters have a better relationship has led Ann to create many programs and tools, which is why she is commonly known as ‘The Mother-Daughter Healer’ by many. Ann runs a thriving private practice that primarily serves teens and young adults and helps them to work on their interpersonal relationships, especially with their mothers.

She completed her Masters’ Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Argosy University Twin Cities, Minnesota and is also a proud graduate of DeVry University, Chicago with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Operations. Ann is currently pursuing her Doctorate degree in Brainspotting at the International University for Graduate Studies. Besides her educational degrees, she also holds many certifications and designations.

Ann Dillard is:

  • A Somatic Therapist who is trained in: Brainspotting, Somatic Experiences, and Internal Family Systems
  • Trained in Problem Gambling Addiction Prevention
  • Certified Daring Way Facilitator
  • Trained in Adoption and Foster Care Competency.

She was particularly interested in finding more concrete ways to serve our young black girls, which led her to develop an inspiring girls’ program called P-GEMS (Precious Girls Empowered to Mature Successfully).

In 2008 Ann Dillard became the founder of a nonprofit organization called Project Safety Nets (PSN). PSN is dedicated to helping individuals in developing communities create sustainable lifestyles through education, health and economic development.

From delivering over 27,000 pre-treated mosquito bed nets, to offering more than 200 micro loans to help women create sustainable ways of living, Project Safety Nets continues to thrive in each of their three pillars. Over the past 15 years the organization has developed over twenty-one different projects, including offering pilgrimage for individuals to travel to The Motherland for rich cultural experiences.

Ann is also a Rotary International Paul Harris Fellow. Her passion for serving others, particularly those in underserved communities drove her to establishing The Rotary Club of North Minneapolis in 2012.

In 2021, Ann won the Global Mental Health Empowerment Award. She was also nominated for the World Women of Vision Award. She has also been honor to have August 7,2017 acknowledged as Ann Dillard Day in the City of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Ann and her husband Joseph has been married for 34 years. To their union they have added, three wonderful adult children, Monisha (Anthony), Joseph, Jr. (Samantha), Aaron, godson Luvell (Karla), and four grandchildren, Joey, Noah, Maya, and Reece.

Ms. Ann credits her faith in God and her commitment to living purposefully and with intentionality for her accomplishments. The list of Ann’s accomplishments and contributions is inspiring as well as endless.
